When you finish, you’ll have written a skill in a single file, and an employee will have used it on a job.
Create the file
- Open the folder Nebo uses for your skills:
- macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/Nebo/user/skills/ - Windows:
%APPDATA%\Nebo\user\skills\ - Linux:
~/.local/share/nebo/user/skills/
- macOS:
- Make a folder for the skill, like
quote-follow-up. - In that folder, create a file named
SKILL.md.
Write the skill
- At the top, between two lines of three dashes, add a
nameand adescription. The name uses lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. The description says what the skill does and when to use it. Employees read it to decide when the skill fits a job. - Below that, write the instructions in plain language.
- Save the file.
---
name: quote-follow-up
description: Follow up on a quote the customer hasn't answered. Use when a quote is more than three days old.
---
1. Find the quote and the customer's last message.
2. Write a short, friendly note that restates the price and what's included.
3. Offer two times for a call.
4. Show me the draft before anything is sent. Nebo picks up the skill while it runs. It appears in Bot settings > Skills. If
the skill needs scripts, reference documents, or other files, put them in scripts, references, or assets folders next to SKILL.md.
Put it to work
- Open a chat with an employee.
- Give it the job: “Follow up on the quote we sent Sam Rivera last Tuesday.”
- Your employee follows the skill and shows you the draft.
You can also ask an employee to write a skill for you. After it finishes a job the way you like, say “Save how you did that as a skill.”
